Bryant and Lauren<br \/>\nNaile and their dog Ellie went with Kristine, Analise, and I<br \/>\nto explore the Woodmeadow Woods, which have just<br \/>\nreceived their death sentence in the form of a decision<br \/>\nto build 31 luxury town homes. My parents have lived<br \/>\nin the same house my entire life so I grew up playing<br \/>\nin these woods &#8212; riding my mountain bike on several<br \/>\ntrails, swinging on vines, playing hide in seek, shooting<br \/>\nmy bb gun, etc&#8230;\n<\/p>\n<p><center><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/family\/hike2.jpg\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" border=\"1\" \/><br \/>\n<\/center><\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">\nEvery tree you see here in this picture will most likely<br \/>\nbe gone before the beginning of Spring this year. The<br \/>\ntall pine tree you see in the middle is the state tree<br \/>\nof Alabama &#8212; the long leaf pine tree. The trails that<br \/>\nwere in the woods as recently as seven years ago<br \/>\nwere completely overgrown so we had a bit of a rough<br \/>\ntime making our way through; but it was still an awesome<br \/>\ntime. Bryant is a landscape architect, so he was telling<br \/>\nus about all the different trees and bushes. We also<br \/>\nfound a variety of old goodies &#8212; an abandoned lawn mower,<br \/>\na tennis shoe, several old tattered blankets. It was<br \/>\ngreat to reminisce and share old memories with our<br \/>\nfriends from home church. Afterwards, we drove down<br \/>\nthe street to<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aldridgegardens.com\/\">Aldridge Gardens<\/a><br \/>\nand had a fun time walking around.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">\nAll of this fun was followed later that evening by a fun<br \/>\ndinner at <a href=\"http:\/\/octane8.elliswyatt.com\/websites\/CajunSteamer\/default.asp?ID=2\">Cajun Steamers<\/a> with several other<br \/>\ncouples from our home church: Blake and Stephanie Basham,<br \/>\nTim and Lindsay Lawson, Bryant and Lauren Naile, and us.<br \/>\nWe listened to live music by a very cool acoustic guitarist.<br \/>\nI had fried alligator, and it was good. Then, to top everything<br \/>\noff, we walked down the street to Cambridge Coffee, had some<br \/>\nespresso, listened to more live music, and had a great time.<br \/>\nAltogether, it was an awesome Saturday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is our group after our &#8220;walk in the woods&#8221; posing for a picture in my parent&#8217;s frontyard.
