New Orleans sits 12 feet below sea level and the storm surge is expected to be 20+ feet. If you do the math, it&#8217;s easy to see that you could drown in a three story house &#8212; even if the house isn&#8217;t washed away.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">The worst for us here in Hoover will be Monday night. Here is an excerpt from the NOAA <a href=\"http:\/\/www.srh.noaa.gov\/showsigwx.php?warnzone=ALZ024&#038;warncounty=ALC073&#038;local_place1=Hoover&#038;product1=Inland+Tropical+Storm+Warning\">inland tropical storm warning<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nMONDAY&#8230;WINDY. SHOWERS AND A CHANCE OF THUNDERSTORMS. SOME<br \/>\nTHUNDERSTORMS MAY PRODUCE TORNADOES. HIGHS AROUND 82. EAST WINDS<br \/>\n15 TO 20 MPH INCREASING TO 20 TO 30 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON. CHANCE<br \/>\nOF RAIN 100 PERCENT.<br \/>\nMONDAY NIGHT&#8230;VERY WINDY. WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND SCATTERED<br \/>\nTHUNDERSTORMS. SOME THUNDERSTORMS MAY PRODUCE TORNADOES. LOCALLY<br \/>\nHEAVY RAINFALL POSSIBLE. LOWS AROUND 72. SOUTHEAST WINDS 25 TO<br \/>\n40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO AROUND 60 MPH. CHANCE OF RAIN 100 PERCENT.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"indent\">This is the fourth tropical storm that will blow through Alabama this summer.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"indent\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wunderground.com\/hurricane\/at200501.asp\">Tropical Storm Arlene<\/a><\/li>\n<li class=\"indent\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wunderground.com\/hurricane\/at200503.asp\">Tropical Storm Cindy<\/a><\/li>\n<li class=\"indent\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wunderground.com\/hurricane\/at200504.asp\">Hurricane Dennis<\/a><\/li>\n<li class=\"indent\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wunderground.com\/hurricane\/at200512.asp\">Hurricane Katrina<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"indent\">That&#8217;s not even including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wunderground.com\/hurricane\/at200409.asp\">Hurricane Ivan<\/a> from last year which stranded us while looking for houses in Birmingham. The airport was closed for a few days because of the storm.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indent\">Honestly, even asking for prayers and desiring for God to have mercy on those who are in the most direct danger, I can&#8217;t help but feel most alive in  the midst of nature&#8217;s fury with these storms.
