coming soon… a new camera!

21st October 2007

This may be rather unexciting to y’all, but our hard-working 4-year old Nikon camera died while we were in South Carolina, a new one is on its way to our house. (The poor Nikon… the button to take the picture and the twisty thing to turn it on/off fell off several weeks ago. We were using a paper clip to turn it on/off and take the pictures. Definitely not quick. Made us not want to take many pictures lately, specially me. Then we lost the paper clip in SC, so Brian used a safety pin. Probably not a good idea, bc now it’s not working. At all. It’s taken lots and lots of pictures for us over 4 years, though… Good, little camera… For those sauntering down memory lane with us, this camera was the replacement to the one that Brian dropped to the dark murky bottom of the Nameconga river the day before our wedding.  May it rest in peace.)

Anyway! The most exciting wonderful news is that I ordered a new camera, a Canon Powershot S5 IS. I am SO VERY EXCITED. It will be so nice to have a camera that takes pictures quicker than ours did. We were having a tough time capturing the fleeting cute moments, as our camera was just a split second too late.

I’ll spare you all the details, since you can read them yourself (and probably understand them better than us if you’re the kind of person that would be reading camera details anyway!) except that this can take up to 30 minutes of video! Ummm… compare that to our 30-second video clips. Sweet. It’s coming UPS, and it should be here Wednesday. We picked up a new 2GB memory card tonight, so we’re ready when it gets here (bc the 32MB card that comes with it will hold like 4-full size pictures!). Stay tuned! There’s likely to be an upward trend in photos and video posted on the blog… It’s going to be exciting!

Glad to hear you decided to go with a Cannon :o). The sensor is much more light sensitive than Nikkon. I hope you enjoy it! Looking forward to seeing more pictures.
